Made up mind
Doctor Frolp had had a good life, and was considering retiring in not the not too distant future. But at the moment he had a more present problem. He had a patient, and not a the usual kind of patient at that. You would have thought that a doctor, especially one at Frolp's age, was used to anything by now. Think again. Or if that hurts you, don't think it at all.
This remarkable patient was not even human at all. He was an alien, from the planet Yrifybutijy, a rather dull planet that constantly suffering from a severe hangover. The species were only interesting for the fact that they were nameshifters. Constantly changing their names a couple of times every second, it was impossible for anyone else to know who was who and what name belonged to who. This led to the kind of sexual freedom that humanity could only boggle at - and did so vehemently.
This particular alien, whose name remain unknown to this day, was seeing the doctor because he thought he had a bit of a problem. Eventually the doctor could diagnoe the patient, but he did not have a remedy. Over-curiosity is something that virtually does not exist anywhere in the Universe, but this single alien was suffering heavily from it.
He wanted to know why anything about anybody or anything, anywhere at any time. This led to a bit of a sleeping problem - he constantly deliberated on why he had to sleep just then and not ten minutes later, why sleep was necessary at all and what would happen if he did not sleep.
The answer to the latter question came to him rather quickly, and the result was a rather sickly and unhealthy skin colour of yellowish pink.
But the good doctor had nothing to give him, except the advice of stopping to be so bloody curious all the time. Of course this was not much use for someone who's suffering from manic nosiness, and the alien would not give up.
"My mind is made up," said the alien decisively.
"Yes?" asked the doctor after a brief pause. The alien contemplated for a moment.
"Of sand," it said. Then, on a sudden hunch, the alien grabbed the doctor's earflip and leaned over to peer into his ear.
"What are you doing?" muttered the doctor painfully.
"Just making sure. Your head doesn't leak."
"Should it?"
"You got holes in it."
"Er, yeah..?"
"Your brain is liquid?"
"Uhm, well, more like, spongy, kind of."
"How come it doesn't leak?"
"Just.. the way it is."
"If my head had holes in it, I'd be worried it woud leak."
"But you don't even have a head."
"True," conceded the alien. "But still."
So the doctor plugged all the holes in his head, and the alien could sleep, at least for one night.
