01 - Another day

This happened last week: A lot, but this is episode 1 so we won't tell you.

Little Red was just that; little. That was how she got the first part of her name. The second part isn't that obvious, but the truth is that she would only wear red socks. She would go barefooted instead of wearing socks of another colour. Thus she got the name Little Red.

When Little Red was a little girl she met a wolf in the forest. Everyone knows she was walking alone, but no one knows why. How could her father allow her to walk through that dangerous forest all on herself, when she so clearly was in danger of meeting, you guessed it, a wolf.

Was her father a drunk? Did he beat her up and molest her all the time? Did he lock her up in the wardrobe for days at a time while he made himself pancakes he didn't want to share?

What kind of life did she get in the end? What kind of life could she get with such a father? The wolf had a certain impact upon the course her life took, but it was all her father's fault. He obviously neglected her during her childhood, and did so on purpose. All the nights she had to turn off the tv herself. All the times he hid her dolls just just to force her to cry desperately for him to give them back. And the times he didn't give her back her dolls, but instead laughed his dry, evil laughter. He was a vicious man.

But one day Little Red had to walk further away from their house than she had ever done before. She had to walk all the way through the big forest. To a little girl as she, the big forest seemed dark and full of great, great dangers. She didn't know what the forest was hiding, and it made her very nervous. She always used to go around it, not through it. It was a forest full of trees.

However, this was an emergency. Little Red's grandmother was ill from the rare stand-still disease. She was standing in front of the mirror in her bathroom and could not move, she had to stand there until Little Red brought her a tape with Aphex Twin's Collected Ambient Works to listen to.

Little Red did her outmost to prepare herself for any danger she might encounter in the big forest. In addition to the tape and the cassette player she had in her basket a coffee machine.

So, one rainy Sunday she started the long walk through the forest to her grandmother. She had to get there as soon as possible so her grandmother could sign for a parcel the postman was waiting with outside.
