Chapter 04

Thoughts #5 - Knowledge
You never know, thought Brian. And he didn't

Voices #1 - Real ones
Brian heard voices. They came from the TV set.

Voices #2 - Not real
Brian heard voices. This time they came from inside his head.

Voices #3 - Headache
The voices told Brian they were his friends. He didn't believe them and shut them out. But then they gave him a terrible headache, so he had to let them back in.

Voices #4 - Diagnose
Brian went to see the doctor. The doctor said he was suffering from multiple personalities. Brian denied this three times, every time with a different answer.

Thoughts #6 - To be
Brian thought, and was fairly sure that therefore he was. But nobody could confirm this theory.

Nails #1 - Request
A joiner asked Brian if he had any spare nails. Brian said yes, and gave him the nail on his left forefinger.

Nails #2 - Amputate
Removing his nail gave Brian a lot of pain, so he amputed his left forefinger.

Thoughts #7 - Learn
You'd think they'd learn from their mistakes, Brian tried to think, but failed. And they certainly didn't learn from their mistakes.

Bad luck #1 - Mail order
Brian bought luck on mail order. But the luck turned into bad luck - and to Brian's horror the mail order company refused to give him a refund.

Thoughts #8 - Bad luck #2 - Such is life
Such is life, thought Brian. Then a black cat crossed in front of him, he accidentally walked under a ladder, broke a mirror, fell and hit his head and remained unconscious for seven years and one day.

Bad luck #3 - After 7.003 years
After seven years and one day Brian woke up from his coma. By this time Bad Luck had multiplied, and things went from bad to much, much worse.

Bad luck #4 - Unfaceable
Brian tried desperately to loose consciousness again so he didn't have to face Bad Luck. He made black cats walk in front of him, he walked under ladders, he broke mirrors and he smashed his head into brick walls. But the only thing he ended up with were nine cats, twenty ladders, a house full of useless mirrors - and a sore head.

Thoughts #9 - Death
Brian thought about death. Death thought this was very convenient and so terminated Brian's life.
